Another Mass Grave Found Of Azerbaijanis Killed By Armenians

04.10.2022 18:12

Anadolu Agency footage shows remains of 12 Azerbaijani people in mass grave from 1st Karabakh war.

Another mass grave of Azerbaijanis killed and buried by Armenian forces during the first Karabakh war was found in the Khojavand district on Tuesday.

Anadolu Agency team captured footage of the remains of 12 Azerbaijani people in the mass grave in Edilli village of the district.

Some bullet holes in the skull indicated that they might have been executed by shooting.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Namiq Efendiyev, an official from Azerbaijan's State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, said that they have been on excavation effort in the region since February to find citizens who disappeared during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War which ended in 1994.

Relations between the former Soviet republics have been tense since 1991, when the Armenian military occupied Nagorno-Karabakh, a territory internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan.

Baku liberated several cities, villages, and settlements from Armenian occupation during 44-day clashes in the 2020 fall, which ended after a Moscow-brokered truce. The peace agreement is celebrated as a triumph in Azerbaijan. -
