Armed attack on a CHP member by the brother and nephew of the former president of MHP! The reason was the release of the song "Topal".

In Kayseri, the former mayor of Pınarbaşı district, Menduh Uzunluoğlu's 62-year-old brother Ejder and 47-year-old nephew Mehmet Uzunluoğlu, who severely injured Şerafettin Bahadır, a member of the CHP, by stopping his car and shooting him with a gun, were arrested. In his statement to the prosecutor's office, Ejder Uzunluoğlu said, "My brother has had a disabled leg since birth. Şerafettin played the song known as "Topal" and danced, making fun of my brother's honor and our pride, so I shot him."

FORMER MAYOR'S BROTHER AND NEPHEW SHOT CHP MEMBER

The incident took place in Pınarbaşı district on June 21st in the evening. Şerafettin Bahadır, a member of the CHP, was stopped by Ejder and Mehmet Uzunluoğlu, the brother and nephew of the former MHP mayor of Pınarbaşı. After being beaten, Bahadır was shot in the leg with a gun.

2 ATTACKERS ARRESTED

Upon notification, health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. Bahadır was taken to Pınarbaşı State Hospital by health teams. After receiving initial treatment, Şerafettin Bahadır was transferred to Kayseri City Hospital. While Bahadır's intensive care treatment continues, Ejder and Mehmet Uzunluoğlu were detained after the attack. The 2 suspects were arrested by the court and sent to prison.

"TOPAL" SONG INTERPRETED AS A REFERENCE

CHP member Şerafettin Bahadır, after the elections held on March 31st, played and danced to the song "Topal" composed of the lyrics "I'm coming from the hands of Ankara/ You haven't taken the spoons from your waist/ You lame one/ You traitor lame one/ You lame one, stay here tonight too" by singer Oğuz Yılmaz, which was interpreted as a reference to MHP mayoral candidate Menduh Uzunluoğlu and became a trending topic on social media.

"I SHOT HIM BECAUSE HE PLAYED WITH OUR HONOR AND PRIDE"

Ejder Uzunluoğlu, who said he regretted his actions, stated, "My brother has had a disabled leg since birth. After losing the elections, Şerafettin played the song known as 'Topal' and danced, and then spread rumors about my brother in the district. We coincidentally encountered Şerafettin. He was also on the move. He stopped his car. When he got out of the car, he had a stick in his hand. He tried to hit my nephew with the stick. I fired a shot towards the ground to scare him. I don't know if it hit him or not. I saw Şerafettin fall to the ground. Then I took my nephew and left the scene. I didn't see his daughter in the car. I regret what happened. When he got out of the car, he cursed at me. I shot him because he played with my brother's honor and our pride."

"WE DID NOT CARRY OUT THE INCIDENT PLANNED"

The other suspect, Mehmet Uzunluoğlu, said, "My uncle and I were going to the town center. We saw a car coming. It made a hand gesture to us. So we stopped. Şerafettin got out of the car with something like a stick. He cursed. He said to my uncle, 'I finished your brother's job. Now I will finish you too.' He tried to hit me with the stick. He hit my arm. My uncle fired a shot towards the ground to scare him. I took the stick from him and hit him once. It hit his arm or head. I also hit the car window in anger. The incident did not happen as planned. It was spontaneous. I regret what happened. I wish it hadn't happened," he said.
