A funeral ceremony was held in İzmir, the hometown of singer and director Metin Arolat, who suddenly fell ill and passed away at the age of 52 due to a heart attack while performing on the evening of September 20 in Kozyatağı, Istanbul.

ARMAĞAN ÇAĞLAYAN AND KUŞUM AYDIN COULDN'T HOLD BACK THEIR TEARS

A funeral ceremony was held yesterday at Teşvikiye Mosque in Istanbul for Metin Arolat, who left his fans in mourning. Arolat's body was brought to his hometown of İzmir today. The Arolat family and the famous artist's friends and fans gathered at Hacı Mustafa Beşikçioğlu Mosque in the Karşıyaka district to pay their last respects. Among those attending the ceremony were Arolat's artist friends, television producer Armağan Çağlayan, singer Işın Karaca, Muharrem Aydın Uğurlular, known as 'Kuşum Aydın', Gökhan Keser, Özgür Çevik, actor Alp Kırşan, family members, and citizens. Arolat's sister, Fatoş Alkan, received condolences. Metin Arolat's close friend, producer Armağan Çağlayan, couldn't hold back his tears during the funeral prayer.

SISTER: HE WAS A VERY GOOD BROTHER, HE HAD NO HEART PROBLEMS

Speaking at the funeral, Arolat's sister Fatoş Alkan said, "He was a person who never wished harm to anyone and always reached out to everyone. That’s why he was very loved. He was a very good brother. He had no heart problems. They said my father died of a heart attack, but my father died of brain cancer. There was no one in the family with heart problems. It is very important that he was a beloved person. He was truly a very good person at heart. He treated not only people but also animals and all living beings well. He never thought or acted badly towards anyone. I am sure he reached out to many people. May God rest his soul," she said.

"HE DIDN'T TAKE SERUM BEFORE GOING ON STAGE"

Alkan, who stated that Metin Arolat went for a check-up at a hospital about 4 months ago and was told that he had no health issues according to the results, continued: "He was always on a diet. He had eaten 3 eggs in the morning and had his chicken for lunch. He had reduced salt and oil. He had no significant health issues. He didn't take serum before going on stage. He would take serum occasionally when he felt unwell, but he hadn't taken serum recently; he told me."

GÖKHAN KESER: WE SHOT BEAUTIFUL VIDEOS TOGETHER, I AM VERY SAD

Kuşum Aydın, who experienced emotional moments at the ceremony, expressed that he had known Metin Arolat for 35 years and was very sad, thus he couldn't find the words to say. Singer Gökhan Keser, speaking at the funeral, said, "We accomplished many beautiful projects together. We shot very beautiful videos. When you recognize their states there, you admire him even more. I am very sad. May God give patience to his loved ones," he said.

Television producer Armağan Çağlayan, referring to the fact that Metin Arolat had no known health issues, said, "The dead is dead; there is no need for polemics afterwards. Our dear friend has died. Metin is a treasure of the Turkish music industry. But no one realizes this. Turkish Pop Music became what it is because of the videos Metin shot. If it weren't for Metin, I don't think there would be a Turkish Pop Music industry today. Metin was the only person without malice. He never knew malice. That’s why he was not in the place he deserved in this industry. Being in the place you deserve in our industry requires malice. He was very cheerful in the last program. He gifted me a t-shirt. We laughed and had fun a lot. We were going to go on vacation together; we had bought tickets for October," he stated.

IŞIN KARACA: A GREAT LOSS FOR ALL OF US

Singer Işın Karaca, who stated that Metin Arolat had been by everyone's side since the 90s, said, "Whenever I was preparing something for a musical image, I would call Metin and ask, 'What do you think, Meto?' His opinion was very important. It is a great loss for all of us. The price of being loved so much is this. May his resting place never be disturbed. It is very valuable to be given this much importance. I hope there will be people who speak so well of us after we are gone. May our heads be held high," she said.

BURIED IN KARŞIYAKA

After the ceremony, Arolat's body, which was sent off with applause, was buried in Örnekköy Cemetery following the funeral prayer held after the noon prayer at Hacı Mustafa Beşikçioğlu Mosque in Karşıyaka.
