Turkish anti-drugs squads seized around one ton of heroin in northwestern province of Sakarya in an operation, Istanbul governor said on Wednesday.
Talking to reporters, Governor Vasip Sahin said that it is the highest amount of heroin seized in a ground operation in the last 15 years.
Seven suspects were also arrested in the operation, which he said, was launched at a farm in Hendek district on Wednesday after a long-time technical and physical surveillance.
The squads continued their surveillance to arrest the other suspects involved, the governor noted.
