The argument between Manisa Kula Mayor Hikmet Dönmez and the officials of a private company that won a tender from the municipality turned into a fight. Mayor Dönmez was detained following the complaint of two individuals who claimed to have been assaulted in his office. ALLEGATION OF "COLLECTING MONEY USING THE NAME OF THE MUNICIPALITY"Hikmet Dönmez, the mayor of Kula from the CHP, called the officials of a private company that won a tender from the municipality, M.U. and H.D., to the municipality. Mayor Dönmez wanted to terminate the contract with the company, accusing M.U. and H.D. of collecting money from shopkeepers and defrauding them using the name of Kula Municipality. THEY FILED A COMPLAINT CLAIMING "WE WERE ASSAULTED"Following the argument that ensued, the officials of the company, M.U. and H.D., were assaulted by Mayor Dönmez's driver M.O.A. and his bodyguard R.G., and were forcibly removed from the municipality. M.U. and H.D., who were assaulted, claimed that they were assaulted in Mayor Dönmez's office and filed a complaint with the police. DRIVER AND BODYGUARD WERE ARRESTEDUpon the complaint, Mayor Dönmez, driver M.O.A., and bodyguard R.G. were detained. After giving their statements at Kula District Police Department, M.O.A. and R.G. were arrested and sent to prison. "THEY INTERVENED BECAUSE THEY ATTACKED ME"Meanwhile, it was learned that Mayor Dönmez had a one-on-one meeting with the officials of the company, M.U. and H.D., in his office, and when they attacked him, his bodyguard R.G. and M.O.A. intervened. Mayor Dönmez first obtained a medical report of assault from Kula State Hospital and then went to the police station to file a complaint. Mayor Dönmez's detention at Kula District Police Department is still ongoing.
