Independent Mine-İş Union General President Gökay Çakır and Organization Specialist Başaran Aksu were arrested by the judge to whom they were referred on charges of 'inciting the public to hatred and hostility'. Çakır had been detained at the union headquarters in Soma, and Aksu during a protest in front of the Ministry of Energy in Ankara.

Gökay Çakır, President of the Independent Miners' Union, and Başaran Aksu, Organization Specialist, were arrested by the judgeship to which they were referred within the scope of the investigation conducted on charges of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility."

PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE REQUESTED THEIR ARREST

Union President Gökay Çakır was detained yesterday at the union headquarters in Soma, while Organization Specialist Başaran Aksu was detained in Ankara during the miners' protest ongoing in front of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.

Çakır and Aksu were referred to the judgeship with a request for their arrest following their statements to the prosecutor's office.

The judgeship decided to arrest Çakır and Aksu.
