Before boarding his plane to visit South Carolina and North Carolina, which were hit by Hurricane Helene, U.S. President Biden made an assessment regarding the latest situation in the Middle East to the press. In response to a question, Biden stated that he does not support a possible attack by Israel on Iranian nuclear facilities.

RESPONSES WILL BE "PROPORTIONATE"

Biden reported that discussions with Israeli counterparts are ongoing and that they are considering how to respond to Iran. He also mentioned that they had a joint teleconference with G7 leaders today and agreed that Israel should respond "proportionately." Following Iran's recent attacks, Biden commented, "Iran has gone too far."
