After the conflicts between local groups in Syria's Suwayda province escalated to a violent stage, police forces began to establish control in the region. U.S. Secretary of State Rubio, addressing the Damascus administration, stated, "The Syrian government must hold accountable and bring to justice everyone guilty of oppression, including those within its own ranks."
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called on the Damascus administration to completely stop the ongoing clashes in the Suwayda province of southern Syria by using security forces.
While the clashes in the region, which started and escalated among local groups in Suwayda, have ceased due to a ceasefire achieved through the efforts of the Damascus administration and mediating countries, the police force is being deployed on the outskirts of the city. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio made a statement regarding the situation in southern Syria on his social media account.
"EVERYONE WHO IS GUILTY MUST BE BROUGHT TO JUSTICE"
Rubio stated that the massacres against innocent people must end, saying, "The Syrian administration must hold everyone guilty of oppression, including those within its ranks, accountable and bring them to justice."
Calling on the Damascus administration to stop the ongoing clashes in Suwayda by using security forces, Rubio said, "If the authorities in Damascus want to maintain the chance of reaching a united, inclusive, and peaceful Syria free from the control of ISIS and Iran, they must use security forces to help end this disaster by preventing ISIS and other violent jihadists from entering the region and committing massacres."
LAST SITUATION IN SUWAYDA
The clashes that began on July 13 and reached their most intense phase the day before yesterday, despite ceasefire efforts, have come to a standstill as the Damascus administration forces, which withdrew from Suwayda due to Israeli attacks, began to return to the region after 7 days. The sounds of gunfire and explosions, which had been continuous until yesterday, are now heard at long intervals.
BEDOUIN ARAB FIGHTERS WITHDRAW FROM CITY CENTER
Yesterday, Bedouin Arab fighters announced that they accepted the calls from the Damascus administration on the condition that the safety of their families in Suwayda is ensured, and they, along with tribal forces coming from other provinces for support, withdrew from the city center of Suwayda by the morning hours.
The withdrawal of Bedouin Arab fighters and the supporting tribal forces from the countryside is continuing gradually.
ENTRANCES TO THE CITY ARE NOT ALLOWED
While the police forces affiliated with the Damascus administration have not yet entered the city center, they are gradually taking control of the countryside. The police force controls the roads leading to Suwayda province and the entrance to the province with checkpoints and barricades. The police, which do not allow entry into Suwayda, only facilitate exits from inside to outside.
