Asian Markets End Wednesday In Negative Territory

Persistent concerns over rising inflation, worldwide spread of omicron variant dent investors' risk appetite.

Amid persisting inflation and omicron concerns, most Asian markets closed in negative territory on Wednesday.

The Asia Dow, which includes the region's blue-chip companies, lost 62.95 points, or 1.64%, to close at 3,777 points.

The Nikkei 225 index in Tokyo shed 790.02 points, or 2.80%, to end the day at 27,467, while China's Shanghai stock exchange dropped by 11.73 points, or 0.33%, to 3,558.

The Indian Sensex benchmark plummeted by 644.16 points, or 1.06%, to close at 60,110.

On the other hand, the Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, went up by 15.25 points, or 0.43%, to 24,112, while the Singapore index rose by 3.90 points, or 0.12%, to 3,283.​​​​​​​ -
