An armed attack was carried out against security forces in the Sistan-Baluchistan province on the Pakistan border in southeastern Iran. In the attack, 10 soldiers lost their lives.

10 IRANIAN SOLDIERS KILLED IN THE ATTACK

According to Iran's semi-official news agency Tasnim, an unidentified armed group attacked border guards on patrol in the Teftan region of Sistan-Baluchistan province in southeastern Iran. It was reported that 10 soldiers lost their lives in the attack.

NOBODY CLAIMED RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ATTACK

Interior Minister Iskender Mumini ordered a comprehensive investigation into the attack and instructed that the results be announced to the public immediately. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

FREQUENT ATTACKS OCCUR IN THE REGION

In armed attacks carried out in Sistan-Baluchistan province on September 30, 3 police officers were killed. On October 1, individuals in a passing vehicle opened fire on a school, resulting in the deaths of 4 people. The attacks were claimed by a group named Jaish ul-Adl, which occasionally carries out attacks in the region.

Since 2003, the leader of the group Jundallah, Abdulmalik Rigi, who had carried out numerous attacks on civilian and military targets in the country, was captured and executed in 2010. After that, the group changed its name to Jaish ul-Adl in 2012. The group occasionally carries out attacks in the Sistan and Baluchistan region near the Pakistan border. Iran claims that the group, which it alleges "defends the rights of the Sunni Baluch people," is supported by foreign intelligence services.
