The Turkish Coast Guard Command announced that a Turkish-flagged fishing boat was attacked off the coast of the Crimean Peninsula in the Black Sea. It was reported that the damaged boat sank, resulting in the death of one fisherman and injuries to four others.
The statement made by the Turkish Coast Guard Command is as follows:
"On June 5, 2026, information was received that an attack was carried out on the Turkish-flagged fishing vessel named DURU 67 in the Black Sea (west of Crimea, off Sevastopol).
As a result of the attack, the damaged fishing vessel DURU 67 sank. The fishing vessel named BURAK KAYA, located in the vicinity, promptly evacuated 5 injured fishermen from the sunken vessel and began heading towards İnebolu. During the transfer, unfortunately, one of the injured fishermen with a severe condition lost his life.
Our assigned Coast Guard element (TCSG-96) reached our fishing vessel BURAK KAYA at 19:20 hours, 115 nautical miles north of İnebolu Port, within the Turkish Search and Rescue Zone. The deceased fisherman's body and the injured fishermen were transferred to the Coast Guard element, medical intervention was initiated, and the return journey to İnebolu Port commenced."
