PRESS CONFERENCE DURING THE HEARING
The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office made a statement regarding the development that occurred during the hearing of the trial known publicly as the "İmamoğlu criminal organization for profit" case.
In the statement issued by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that Aykut Erdoğdu's lawyer, Tuba Torun Erdoğdu, made a press statement during the hearing of the trial ongoing at the Marmara Penal Execution Institutions Campus by the Istanbul 40th Heavy Penal Court on April 30, 2026.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED
The statement noted that due to the expressions used during the said press statement, an investigation was initiated concerning lawyer Tuba Torun Erdoğdu, also taking into account the provisions of the Attorneyship Law.
In the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office statement, the following expressions were included: “Due to the words uttered during the press statement made by Tuba Torun Erdoğdu, the lawyer of detained defendant Aykut Erdoğdu, while the hearing of the trial of the Istanbul 40th Heavy Penal Court's case file number 2025/318, ongoing in the courtroom located at the Marmara Penal Execution Institutions Campus, was proceeding on the date of April 30, 2026, an investigation has been initiated by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, also taking into account the provisions of the Attorneyship Law. It is respectfully announced to the public.”
Lawyer Tuba Torun Erdoğdu, against whom the investigation was launched, is the wife of Aykut Erdoğdu, who is being tried as a detained defendant in the same case. The couple married in 2022.
