The leader of the BBP, Mustafa Destici, expressed his reaction to UEFA's investigation into Merih Demiral's celebration, where he made the wolf sign, after Turkey's 2-1 victory against Austria in Euro 2024. Destici stated, "Those who target Merih Demiral, our National Team, and our nation should know that we are Turkish, we are Muslim, and God willing, we will become champions. We are all Merih, we are all wolves. The real reason for their discomfort is our Turkish identity, our Islamic faith, and the success of our National Team."

BBP Chairman Mustafa Destici stated that the statement made by the German Interior Minister and the investigation initiated by UEFA regarding the goal celebration in which national football player Merih Demiral made the wolf sign is purposeful and malicious.
