The plane, carrying approximately 80 soldiers from Santo Domingo to Port-au-Prince, was found to have bullet marks on its tail and engine during a post-mission inspection. BULLET MARKS FOUND ON THE AIRCRAFT

According to reports in the Belgian press, bullet marks were detected during a post-mission inspection on the aircraft, which flew from Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, to Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, on April 19. Two bullet holes were reported on the tail and engine sections of the aircraft.

FLIGHT UNDER UN MISSION

The aircraft, belonging to the 15th Air Transport Wing, transported approximately 80 Chadian soldiers to Port-au-Prince as part of the United Nations mission. After the soldiers were disembarked, the aircraft safely returned to Santo Domingo.

TARGETED BEFORE LANDING

Officials assessed that the aircraft was targeted before its landing in Port-au-Prince. It was stated that despite the attack, the crew was unharmed and the flight was completed without incident.

MINISTRY CONFIRMED

The Belgian Ministry of Defense confirmed that the aircraft was fired upon, though no official statement has yet been made regarding the cause of the incident or the attackers.
