An international archaeology team has announced that they have obtained strong evidence that the remains of Noah's Ark have been found south of Mount Ararat.

The research group called "Noah's Ark Scans" is conducting a comprehensive scientific study to trace the legendary ship described in the Bible that saved all species from the Great Flood.

The focus of the research is the ship-shaped geological formation in the Durupınar region, which has been a subject of debate for years. This structure, 164 meters long, shows astonishing similarities to the dimensions of Noah's Ark mentioned in the Bible.

Lead researcher Andrew Jones stated, "The data we have excites us. However, we will not compromise on scientific rigor." Jones noted that they will not start excavation work immediately due to the harsh climatic conditions of the region, and will first create conservation plans.

Soil analyses conducted last year under the leadership of Turkish geologist Dr. Memet Salih Bayraktutan revealed consistent findings with decayed wood inside the ship-shaped formation. In samples examined at Atatürk University, a lower pH value, higher organic matter, and potassium content were detected within the structure.

Ground-penetrating radar scans conducted in 2019 also showed that there are rectangular shapes and long corridors about 7 meters deep inside the structure. The team plans to conduct controlled drilling to visualize the interior without disturbing the formation.

The research team emphasizes that the findings indicate a man-made structure rather than a natural geological formation. Jones stated, "Even the different colors of the grass in this area in the fall show that there is something different from an ordinary soil structure here," adding that they aim to reach more definitive results within the next few years.

Turkish officials and universities are supporting the project. The studies are expected to make significant contributions to regional tourism.
