Two civilians and three security personnel were injured on Friday when an explosive device went off in the northern Sinai Peninsula, according to a security source.
"Five people were wounded in an explosion that targeted a vehicle in the Al-Masaed neighborhood of Al-Arish city," Heath Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar told The Anadolu Agency.
"Three of the five people injured in the explosion were police elements, while the other two were civilians," a security source, who requested anonymity, told AA.
Responsibility for the attack has yet to be claimed by any militant groups.
The violence comes amid calls by Egypt's Salafist Front for an "Islamic revolution" on Friday aimed at ending "military rule" and safeguarding Egypt's "Islamic identity."
