The court did not apply discretionary mitigation to the defendant.

The verdict has been announced in the child abuse case that emerged in Istanbul. The mother, who was tried on the grounds that she caused her biological daughter to be subjected to sexual abuse by taking her to different people for money for years, was sentenced to 30 years in prison. According to Sabah's report, the court panel did not apply any reduction to the defendant in the case concerning the incidents that allegedly began when the child was 6 and continued until she was 15.

THE ABUSE WAS ALLEGED TO HAVE STARTED AT AGE 6

According to information reflected in the case file, it was stated that 44-year-old S.D. took her daughter D.D., born in 2011, to various men's homes for money on different dates starting in 2017.

In the indictment, it was alleged that the defendant took her daughter to the residences of individuals named Aydın Ö., Engin A., Selahattin T., and Tahir G., and obtained financial benefit from these people. The child victim, D.D., also described what she experienced in her statement to judicial authorities.

UP TO 25 YEARS IN PRISON WAS SOUGHT

A lawsuit was filed against the mother, who was arrested as part of the investigation, on charges of "sexual abuse of a child" and "encouraging, forcing, or mediating the prostitution of children." In the prepared indictment, a prison sentence of up to 25 years was sought for the defendant.

30 YEARS IN PRISON FROM THE COURT

At the final hearing held at the Istanbul Anatolian Heavy Penal Court, the defendant S.D. stated that she was single and the mother of four children, a primary school graduate, and worked as a baker. The defendant also stated that her monthly income was 24 thousand lira.

The court panel first sentenced the defendant to 12 years in prison. Because the crime was committed against her biological daughter, the sentence was increased by half to 18 years. Because the acts were carried out in a chain-like manner at different times, the sentence was raised to 30 years.

While the court did not apply discretionary mitigation provisions to the defendant, it decided that her detention should continue.
