Boko Haram Kills Another Aid Worker İn Nigeria

16.10.2018 00:13

Hauwa Liman, who worked for Red Cross, was abducted alongside 2 other aid workers in March.

Boko Haram militants in Nigeria on Monday killed another aid worker, who was abducted in the country's northeast Rann town, a minister said.

Hauwa Liman, 24, who worked for the Red Cross, was abducted alongside two other aid workers in March in northeastern Rann town in Borno state, epicenter of the nine-year insurgency.

Her killing came a month after one of the captives -- Saifura Ahmed -- was murdered by the militant group.

"The Federal Government [...] is shocked and saddened at the killing of another aid worker by Boko Haram on Monday, despite the actions taken by the government and the widespread appeal to save the young woman," Nigeria's Information Minister Lai Mohammed said in a statement.

"We are deeply pained by this killing, just like we were by the recent killing of the first aid worker. However, we will keep the negotiations open and continue to work to free the innocent women who remain in the custody of their abductors," Mohammed added.

In a statement, Boko Haram announced Liman's killing and said other two aid workers -- Leah Sharibu and Alice Ngaddah -- would be kept as slaves. -
