Bombshell claim: The AK Party administration wants a 30% increase in the minimum wage.

27.10.2024 10:10

As millions focus on the expected increase in the minimum wage for the new year, the economic management is considering a raise of around 25%, which is the anticipated inflation rate, while the ruling AK Party believes that the increase should be around 28-30%. If an increase as requested by the AK Party comes to the agenda, the new minimum wage will rise to approximately 22,000 lira.

While millions of minimum wage workers in Turkey are turning their eyes to the expected raise rates, striking figures have begun to be mentioned in the corridors of power in Ankara.

THE ECONOMY MANAGEMENT WANTS A 25% INCREASE

The economy management believes that the minimum wage should be increased by around 25%, which is the expected inflation rate for 2025. If it increases by 25%, the minimum wage will rise to 21,250 lira.

The prevailing view within the ruling AK Party is that the minimum wage should be increased by around 28-30%. In the case of a 28-30% increase, the new minimum wage will rise to around 22,000 lira.

THE OPPOSITION'S DEMAND IS 30,000 LIRA

Opposition parties argue that the minimum wage should be at least 30,000 lira, stating that the minimum wage determination commission to be established in December should start negotiations with this amount as the lowest figure.

WHAT DO THE SURVEY RESULTS SAY?
