Borsa Istanbul Stocks Start Week Up

Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.82 percent or 835.82 points to open at 103,287.56 points on Monday.



On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped by 0.32 percent to close the day at 102,451.74 points with a daily trading volume of 5.37 billion Turkish liras ($1.02 billion).



The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.2470 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to the last week's closing rate of 5.2460.



The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 5.9460, versus 5.9550 at the last close. One British pound traded for 6.8010 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 6.8070 at market close on Friday.



The price of Brent oil fell to $61.89 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Monday, versus $62.1 at Friday's close. -
