A critical development took place after the successive resignations of Second President Metin Öztürk and Board Member and Sportif A.Ş. Deputy Chairman Abdullah Kavukcu at Galatasaray. Following the crisis at the club, the yellow-and-red board decided to meet this evening at 19:00.
The repercussions of the argument that occurred at the Galatasaray board meeting held on October 27 continue. The resignations of Second Chairman Metin Öztürk and Board Member and Deputy Chairman of Sportif A.Ş. Abdullah Kavukcu caused hectic hours at the yellow-and-red club.
First, Metin Öztürk announced that he was leaving his post, and a few hours later Abdullah Kavukcu also announced his resignation to the public with a written statement.
GALATASARAY BOARD TO MEET AT 19.00
Following the successive resignations, the Galatasaray Board of Directors decided to meet this evening at 19.00. At the meeting to be held after the developments at the yellow-and-red club, the latest situation in the administration is expected to be discussed.
WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN THE TWO EXECUTIVES?
It was learned that a fierce argument took place between Metin Öztürk and Abdullah Kavukcu at the board meeting held on October 27. METİN ÖZTÜRK: I WAS PHYSICALLY ATTACKED
Galatasaray Second Chairman Metin Öztürk announced that he resigned, claiming that he was physically attacked at the meeting and that his deceased mother was insulted. Öztürk used the following statements in his announcement:
The action that took place at our Board meeting dated October 27, which turned into a physical attack and an insult to my deceased mother, neither my Galatasaray upbringing nor the upbringing I received from my mother and father permits me to accept. As of today, I am resigning from my memberships on the Galatasaray Board of Directors and in affiliated companies.
ABDULLAH KAVUKCU ALSO ANNOUNCED HIS RESIGNATION
Following Metin Öztürk, Abdullah Kavukcu also issued a written statement and announced that he resigned from his board membership. Kavukcu argued that the argument was conveyed to the public with statements that did not reflect the truth, and made the following statement:
Following our Board meeting held on October 27, I feel great sorrow that the mutual verbal argument between Mr. Metin Öztürk and me was conveyed to the public with exaggerated and untrue statements, especially on social media, being distanced from its true dimensions.
I would never wish for this argument, which took place between two executives who assumed the responsibility of serving Galatasaray and developed mutually, to be reflected differently from what it was, to get ahead of our club's goals and to harm the unity and togetherness of our community.
My heart does not consent to the name of Galatasaray, which I have placed at the center of my life and whose love and values I hold above all else, being mentioned with such arguments. Out of my love and responsibility for Galatasaray, in order that personal matters do not cast even the smallest shadow over the peace, reputation, and goals of our club, I have decided to resign from my board membership duty. I would especially like to state that my loyalty to Galatasaray is not limited to any duty or title, and that I will continue to provide all kinds of contributions in my power for the success of our club from now on.
ALL EYES TURNED TO THE CRITICAL MEETING
After the two important executives left their posts, all eyes in Galatasaray turned to the board meeting to be held at 19.00. It is eagerly awaited how the yellow-and-red administration will proceed after the resignations.
