A British national and a Greek army sergeant were arrested Sunday on charges of espionage in a military area in Greece on the border with Turkey, local media reported on Tuesday.
They were taking photos when they were arrested in a restricted military area near the town of Bosna.
The 29-year-old Greek army sergeant who serves in a migrant camp in the Evros area and the 25-year-old British national who works for a charity were sent to the prosecution office of Orestiada, the northernmost city of Greece.
The prosecution launched a criminal proceeding against the two men on charges of violation of state secrets and espionage.
According to local media, an investigation was launched by the Greek secret service. -
