The brother of an ex-Lebanese lawmaker known for his support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was killed in the northern Lebanese district of Akkar on Monday, a security source has said.
Badr Eid, the brother of former Lebanese lawmaker Ali Eid, was shot in the head, the source told The Anadolu Agency.
According to the source, three different cartridges were found at the site of the shooting, showing that the attack might have been carried out by more than one person.
The official Lebanese news agency, meanwhile, said that the man succumbed to his wounds at the hospital.
A civil war erupted in Syria almost four years ago, leaving tens of thousands of people dead and millions of other displaced both internally and externally.
Lebanon, which shares borders with Syria, has been hard hit by the turmoil in the neighboring country as hundreds of thousands of Syrians arrived to escape the violence back home.
