Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated during the Q&A session of the discussions on the 2025 budgets of the Presidency and its affiliated institutions, "We want the Kurds in Syria to be represented as they deserve."
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz answered the questions of the members of parliament during the budget discussions of the Presidency and its affiliated institutions at the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
"KURDS ARE AN ESSENTIAL COMPONENT OF SYRIA"
Yılmaz responded to a question regarding the government's approach to the Kurds in Syria as follows:
"We see Syrian Kurds and the PKK as distinctly separate. We are against anyone who is facing the pressure of terrorist organizations. The Kurds in Syria are an essential component of that country, and we certainly want them to be represented in those structures as they deserve, free from the pressure of terrorist organizations in the new Syria, to live their fundamental rights and freedoms in the best way, and to increase their welfare. They are our brothers. We cannot have a different perspective on them. We will continue our fight against terrorist organizations both inside and outside Turkey."
"IF IT WERE TODAY, I WOULD GO AGAIN, I WOULD ATTEND THIS PEACE DINNER"
In response to a question about whether he regretted attending a peace dinner with Mardin Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Türk, who was removed from his position and replaced by a trustee, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır said, "If it were today, I would go again, I would attend this peace dinner, and I would make every effort to ensure that those families reconcile. It is a humanitarian duty, and I do not find it right to politicize this. If we could soothe the heart of a single mother, that would make us happy."
"NONE OF OUR INSTITUTIONS ARE EXEMPT FROM OUR AUSTERITY MEASURES"
In response to a question about whether the austerity circular was being followed in public institutions, Yılmaz replied:
"We have tried to prepare the austerity measures as comprehensively as possible this year. None of our institutions are exempt. There is only one institution that is exempt, and that is the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Because it has a different structure, we did not see it as part of the executive due to the separation of powers. We did not include it in the circular out of respect, believing that the representatives elected by the people would make their own decisions. However, during that process, our Speaker of the Assembly made a statement, expressing that the Assembly also has its own will in this process and that they would take the austerity measures under their own responsibility."
