Chile's annual consumer inflation spiked to a 28-year high in July as energy costs soared and the peso lost ground.
Annual inflation stood at 13.1% last month, up from 12.5% in June, according to official data released on Monday.
The highest rates were seen in transportation (26.4%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (19.4%), housing and utilities (10.7%), and recreation and culture (16.4%).
On a monthly basis, the consumer price index increased 1.5% in July. -
