The incident took place on April 19th around 00:30 in Songül Street, Sağlık Neighborhood. Problems started between Meltem Zengin, a mother of 2 children who works as a worker in a factory in Bolu, and Serkan Zengin, whom she has been married to for 16 years, due to "jealousy". After the young woman told her family about the disagreements she had with her husband, her father Turgut Doğanyiğit took her home after she finished her night shift at the factory.

HE STABBED ANYONE IN HIS WAY

Serkan Zengin also went to his father-in-law's house in the late hours to talk to his wife and her family. Serkan Zengin argued with his wife who said she wanted a divorce. After the argument turned into a fight between the two, Serkan Zengin stabbed and killed Meltem Zengin and his father-in-law Turgut Doğanyiğit, and also stabbed his mother-in-law Emine Doğanyiğit in the arm.

HE COMMITTED THE HORROR WITH A 40 CM KNIFE

The suspect, who fled the scene, was caught by the police. The approximately 40 cm long knife used by Zengin in the incident was found in the backyard of a building about 100 meters away from the building where the murder took place. The suspect was arrested after his interrogation at the police station.

An indictment was prepared against Serkan Zengin, demanding aggravated life imprisonment for intentionally killing his wife Meltem Zengin, life imprisonment for intentionally killing his father-in-law Turgut Doğanyiğit, and up to 3 years in prison for injuring his mother-in-law Emine Doğanyiğit with a firearm. The indictment was accepted by the Bolu 1st Heavy Penal Court.

"MY WIFE SHIELDED MY DAUGHTER WHILE HE STABBED HER"

The statement of Emine Doğanyiğit, who witnessed the incident in which her daughter and granddaughter were killed, is included in the indictment. Doğanyiğit stated that her daughter told Serkan Zengin that she wanted a divorce and said, "He took out the large black knife with a black handle hidden in the sleeve of his black coat and said, 'I will eliminate 5 people.' Then he stabbed Meltem several times. While Serkan was stabbing my daughter, my wife shielded herself and hugged my daughter. At that moment, she was stabbed in the back and died. Meltem started running towards the corridor, saying 'Mom, save me,' and collapsed behind the entrance door. My wife also collapsed in front of the living room door on the left side of the entrance door. Then Serkan ran away from the house. When he said, 'I will eliminate 5 people,' I thought he would harm my two grandchildren, so I immediately called my grandchildren. I said, 'If your father comes, don't open the door, come to us immediately. Come from the lower street, don't use the upper street.' Then my grandchildren came."

"I DON'T REMEMBER WHAT I DID UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF INTOXICATION"

In his statement included in the indictment, Serkan Zengin claimed that his wife was cheating on him and recounted the following:

"We had an argument in January and we complained about each other. Later, we made peace and continued to live in the same house. Before the incident, I went to my father-in-law's house and told him about this situation. When we entered the house on the day of the incident, I sat on the couch in the room with the TV, which was opposite the entrance door. We continued to argue because of the events. My wife kicked me on my right shoulder from where she was sitting, then she attacked me and said, 'I will kill you.' I went to the kitchen and took the black-handled weapon, which I remember as being in the second drawer from the bottom, in order to scare them. I went back to them with the knife in my hand. When they continued to attack me while I had the knife, I swung the knife without aiming at anyone. I don't remember how I stabbed them. On the day of the incident, I drank a total of 6 beers at different times in the evening. I don't remember what I did under the influence of intoxication."

NO SIGNS OF ASSAULT AND FORCE ON THE DEFENDANT

The indictment also emphasized that there were no signs of assault and force on Serkan Zengin's body, despite his claim that his wife kicked him and attacked him. The defendant Zengin, who has been in prison since April 19th, will appear before the Bolu 1st Heavy Penal Court in the coming days.
