China has called on its citizens in Israel to leave the country "as soon as possible" amid escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah. The Chinese Embassy in Israel stated in a statement made on the day, "The situation at the Israel-Lebanon border is extremely tense, and military clashes are occurring frequently." The statement also included, "The security situation in Israel continues to be serious, complex, and unpredictable." The embassy urged Chinese citizens in Israel to "return to their home country or move to safer areas as soon as possible." Despite all calls from the international community, Israel and Hezbollah threatened to escalate cross-border attacks on Sunday. In an airstrike carried out by Israel on Friday against a densely populated Hezbollah stronghold south of Beirut, Ibrahim Akil, the leader of Hezbollah's elite Radwan Force, was killed.
