Three days of trade talks between U.S. and Chinese officials have concluded and its results would be released soon, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang held a news conference in Beijing after the conclusion of the negotiations.
"Chinese and U.S. officials wrapped up three days of trade talks today with one-day extension. That shows both sides are serious about the talks," Lu said.
"It will be good news for both countries and rest of the world if a positive outcome comes out of the negotiations. We will announce the results of the talks later," he added.
Chinese Vice Premier Liu He and Commerce Minister Zhong Shan were among the attendants of the talks.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump agreed not to impose additional reciprocal tariffs for 90 days in early December during the G20 meeting in Argentina.
If the U.S. and China continue imposing tariffs against each other, it is expected that these will hit these countries' automotive and technology sectors, and could easily create a ripple effect extending to their supply chains on emerging economies in the Americas and Asia. -
