Cholera Death Toll İn Yemen Rises To 350

22.05.2017 21:28

The death toll due to cholera in Yemen has risen to 350 since its outbreak on April 27, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Monday.

Speaking to the Anadolu Agency, ICRC's operations director Dominik Stillhart said he spoke to the Yemeni health minister on the issue early Monday.

"The death toll in the Yemen cholera outbreak has risen to 350 and the registered cholera cases have reached up to 30,000," he added.

Yemen has fallen into civil war in 2014 after Houthi rebels overran capital Sanaa and other provinces.

In 2015, Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies launched a massive air campaign aimed at reversing Houthi gains and shoring up Yemen's pro-Saudi government.

According to UN officials, more than 10,000 Yemenis have been killed in the conflict to date, while more than 11 percent of the country's total population have been displaced from their homes. -
