As the police broke the iron garden gate to enter the CHP headquarters, they faced harsh reactions from party members. CHP members inside the headquarters tried to barricade the doors by piling up chairs. Some attempted to resist by spraying fire extinguishers.
After the absolute nullity decision, the CHP headquarters was in turmoil as Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu returned to the general chairmanship. While Özgür Özel and his team refused to leave the building, police teams broke the iron garden gate of the CHP General Headquarters and entered.
THEY MADE BARRICADES FROM CHAIRS
As the teams entered the building, heated arguments and a scuffle broke out between the party members inside and the police. CHP members in the headquarters building tried to set up barricades by piling chairs behind the doors to stop the police from advancing. As tensions escalated, some party members tried to obstruct the police by spraying fire extinguishers.
GARDEN GATE DESTROYED
Party members in the General Headquarters garden threw water and glass bottles at the teams that broke through the iron garden gate. Police teams intervened with pepper spray against the party members in the garden and building, entering the General Headquarters.
DETERGENT POURED ON STAIRS TO BLOCK POLICE
Inside the CHP General Headquarters, some people were affected by the gas, and some party members attempted to build barricades with chairs at the doors. Police teams removed the barricades, while it was learned that some party members and deputies tried to block police from going upstairs by pouring cleaning materials like detergent on the stairs.
TENSIONS BEGAN IN THE MORNING HOURS
Tensions remained high around the CHP General Headquarters throughout the day. Following the arrival of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's close associates and some deputies at the headquarters, a scuffle occurred between the parties.
Later, police teams went to the headquarters to serve an eviction notice, but could not enter the building because the doors were closed.
While the CHP administration described the events as an "attempt at forcible takeover," the Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu side demanded the enforcement of the court decision.
