CHP leader Özel in Mardin: Ahmet Türk is not someone who should be appointed as a trustee.

After the appointment of trustees to the municipalities of Mardin, Batman, and Şanlıurfa Halfeti, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and his accompanying delegation went to the region. CHP leader Özel, who went to the front of the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality, met with the dismissed Ahmet Türk.

Özel made statements in front of the municipality building together with Ahmet Türk. Özel said: "While planning to make this visit, this morning, an intelligence that does not recognize the will of the people of Mardin, which could not win Mardin through elections, attempted to appoint a trustee for the third time. As soon as I saw the news, my friend next to me said, 'Oh no, they dismissed the mayor before I could visit him.' I said, 'No, I will go to visit Mayor Ahmet today; it is not Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who decides who the Mayor of Mardin is, but the people of Mardin.'

I was born in 1974; when I was born, Ahmet Başkan was a member of parliament from CHP. During the times when Recep Tayyip Erdoğan wanted to be the mayor of Beyoğlu after serving as the provincial chairman, Ahmet Başkan was a member of parliament from SHP for two terms. We were together during Ahmet Başkan's second term in the 23rd and 24th periods. When I was born, Ahmet Türk was in politics in CHP. For 50 years, whenever Kurds go to the ballot box, they vote for Ahmet Türk; this will cannot be competed with.

We came here to salute your will. We came to say peace, we came to say brotherhood. Ahmet Türk, who entered politics before I was born, is a peace dove who represents dialogue, advocates for peace instead of conflict, and has always led us in this regard. No matter where you appoint a trustee, it is wrong. When you are about to appoint a trustee to Ahmet Türk, you should stop; Ahmet Türk is not someone to be appointed as a trustee! Turn back from these mistakes. Abandon this immoral law you enacted with the KHK during the state of emergency.

"THERE IS NO PLACE FOR THIS MIND IN THE CONSCIENCE OF THE NATION"

Those who held this place for two terms and left it in ruins could not think this: We are not doing this for the first time; after we appointed Ahmet Türk as a trustee in the first term, he received the vote of one in two Mardin residents. In the second time, we dismissed him, Mardin said no, and he brought it to 56%. Again, we dismissed him, and this time he brought it to 58%. O Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, o bad mind interfering with the will of Turkey... If you call this state intelligence, what kind of state intelligence is this... No matter whose mind it is, there is no place for this mind in the conscience of the nation.

When it comes to appointing a trustee, they appoint one without waiting for the court to finish, without waiting for the appeal, without it being finalized in the Supreme Court, and they say, 'I won't wait for the court; I think you are a terrorist.' Then they turn to the Municipal Council and say, 'I won't let you elect from among you because you are all terrorists.' This understanding is completely alienating, putting the people against each other, and strengthening enmity instead of democracy and the state.

Starting tomorrow, in the capacity of TBB - where one of the representatives of the DEM Party is also my dear Ahmet - we will meet tomorrow, and President Ekrem İmamoğlu will request appointments from all political party leaders one by one, except for Erdoğan. We will quickly carry out political visits on behalf of all municipalities in Turkey, regardless of their views. I will exhaust all dialogue channels with whoever I need to meet. Some want to make us part of the conflict, to govern this country with the fear they create; we will not succumb to this fear.
