In the treacherous terrorist attack on the TUSAŞ facilities in the Kahramankazan district of Ankara, 5 of our citizens were martyred, and 22 people were injured. An explanation regarding the attack also came from CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. ÖZEL'S STATEMENT ON THE TREACHEROUS ATTACKAfter the attack, CHP leader Özel, who decided to cut short his Eastern program and return to Ankara, made statements to journalists before leaving Diyarbakır. Highlighting the timing of the attack, Özel said: "As you know, we were in Diyarbakır since yesterday for a six-day program, and we were planning to continue to Batman and Mardin, and finally complete our program in Van. Today, during a municipal visit, we learned about the terrorist attack in Kahramankazan through a note communicated live." Our ongoing program was here, where members of the city council were waiting for us, hosted by the Chamber of Industry. Our thanks to our Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mehmet Kaya for providing us with a meeting room. We held a meeting with our friends and the delegation here. At the same time, our MYK members in Ankara also gathered at the call of our General Secretary, and we tried to understand the situation. During that time, I also spoke on the phone with our Minister of Interior. He shared information directly that the loss was four people, there were 14 injured, and the hostage operation was completed without any harm to the hostages, as we were waiting for their statement. RETURNING TO ANKARA, CUTTING SHORT THE EASTERN PROGRAMOf course, under these circumstances, both the views of our delegation and our hosts indicate that it is not possible to continue this political trip, so we are returning to Ankara. We are heading to the airport from here and will return on the first flight. During this time, after our meeting with the valuable members of the city council, we had a brief exchange of views, shorter than planned. Of course, our agenda was today’s terrorist attack and the purposes of terrorism. "WE CONDEMN TERRORISM REGARDLESS OF ITS SOURCE"We condemn terrorism, regardless of who it comes from, where it comes from, or for what purpose it is carried out. Our expectation is that terrorism should be removed from Turkey's agenda, and that no one who says 'I want nothing, I want equal citizenship. I want to be equal like everyone else' and rebels against this should remain in Diyarbakır, Muş, Van, or in the outskirts of the big cities. We expect every Turk and every Kurd, regardless of their ethnic background or sect, to embrace this country by feeling that their problems have been solved and that they feel equal, not because the state decided so, but because they truly feel that way. "THE TIMING OF TODAY'S ATTACK MUST BE CONSIDERED CAREFULLY"Of course, in such processes, we demand that the issue be clarified in all its aspects. Such things happen in these lands; they have always happened. Therefore, we need to look carefully at the timing of today’s terrorist attack. However, nothing will diminish our hope regarding Turkey's brotherhood. Our determination on this issue will not be shaken by anything. Additionally, some opportunists and political pickpockets are trying to deceive our citizens with word games. 'Özgür Özel promised the Kurds the state.' I promise them that you will fully embrace the Republic of Turkey, feel like the owner of the state, and that you will feel that all 86 million citizens of this state are equal and full citizens together with the Turks. There is nothing to be gained from those who try to politicize from the first word of this promise; if anything comes out, it will be the extreme right populism that has become a problem for democracy in Europe and the world. What they have done to the world and their countries is evident. That is why we will continue to defend what we believe in with determination, without being discouraged by such distortions, lies, and pickpocketing. We are going to Ankara, where our Central Executive Board is in session. We will also participate in that meeting. We will examine the issue in all its aspects and share our views and thoughts with your colleagues in Ankara tomorrow. Once again, I wish God's mercy upon the four citizens who lost their lives, and I extend my condolences to their families. Our medical colleagues are closely monitoring the injured, and we are following their health status. I hope they recover quickly.
