The discussions on the articles of the 2023 Central Government Final Account Law Proposal continue in the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba, who took the floor on the 3rd article of the proposal, stated that there is a moral collapse in the country and gave examples from the discussions that take place in daytime television programs. Ağbaba said: "YOU CAN SEE THE MORAL COLLAPSE IN THESE PROGRAMS""In Turkey, you cannot always understand the official situation by looking at the figures and statistics in the budget. Just look at the most-watched daytime programs; there is immorality, fraud, murderers, thieves, child abuse, infidelity, prostitution, and violence against women. You can see the moral collapse and poverty in these programs. In these programs, your ministers' duties have been taken over by others. Justice Minister Müge Anlı, Interior Minister Esra Erol, Family Minister Didem Arslan. They are doing the job that you cannot do. While these programs openly reveal moral collapse, it is also possible to see poverty. A man says, 'I was going to throw a gas cylinder at my mother-in-law, but I gave up because the cylinder is expensive.' A man appears on television and says, 'My wife is selling me. She is selling me for pickles, tomato paste, and peppers.' "THIS STYLE DOES NOT SUIT THIS ROOF"AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Bahadır Yenişehirlioğlu also took the floor after Ağbaba and criticized Ağbaba's statements. Yenişehirlioğlu stated that a clean language should be used in the Assembly, saying, "We all had reached a common consensus to use a decent language, but there are some things that are worse than the occurrence itself. The terms used by the honorable speaker in this way are not suitable words for this decent Assembly roof, nor is the manner of expression. We need to raise the level. We should not personalize our speeches; we should maintain politeness, but my advice to him is to use a more polite language because this style does not suit this roof," he said. "IF MORE THAN HALF OF THE COUNTRY IS LISTENING TO MÜGE ANLI, THIS IS A DECADENCE"CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır supported Ağbaba's speech and stated that he agreed with Yenişehirlioğlu's call for a clean language. Emphasizing the importance of language and politeness, Başarır stated that despite this, there was no tolerance for the opposition's criticisms throughout the budget discussions. Pointing out that Ağbaba's examples were correct, Başarır said, "Unfortunately, the reputation of institutions in Turkey has disappeared. Whenever the RTÜK President imposes a penalty on a series or program, the audience increases fourfold. Scandalous decisions are being made in the judiciary to the extent that people do not even trust the judiciary. These are correct observations in terms of protecting the reputation of the Assembly. If more than half of the country is listening to Müge Anlı, this shows the point we have reached; this is a decadence," he said.
