CHP's Başarır harshly criticizes Minister Şimşek: What is this man good for?

Speaking on behalf of his party during the discussions, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır made harsh criticisms of the Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, at the podium.

"WHAT IS THIS GUY GOOD FOR?"

Reminding that when Şimşek took office, inflation was 38 percent, Başarır stated that today inflation is 47 percent, asking, "What is this guy good for?"

"THE COUNTRY IS HEADING TOWARDS A GREAT DISASTER DAY BY DAY"

Başarır used the following statements: "According to TÜİK, when Mehmet Şimşek came 19 months ago, inflation was 38 percent. Today it is 47 percent. Now I ask, what is this guy good for? Isn't it a sad picture? The country is heading towards a great disaster day by day. We are giving 1 trillion 50 billion of this 14 trillion 700 billion budget to interest. That's almost 14 percent of the budget, friends. In 22 years, we have paid a total of 600 billion dollars in interest. The Turkish economy that you said 'burned and finished' had a foreign debt of 132 billion dollars in 2002, today it is 512 billion dollars. We paid 1 trillion 850 billion for the disgrace called Currency Protected Deposit. If we hadn't given that money to a handful of rich people, whoever smartly invented this, we wouldn't be paying this much interest today. There is a 3 trillion tax exemption, and I accept that nearly 1 trillion of this was given to minimum wage and salaries. About 1.5 trillion has been used for a handful of rich people, the companies to which you have given the underground resources, mines, lands, and tenders of this country without collecting taxes."
