It is claimed that Esma Esad, the wife of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who was diagnosed with leukemia, has passed away. Following the spread of the news on social media, the Baath Party, led by Assad, denied the allegations.

The wife of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Esma al-Assad, is claimed to have passed away, and numerous posts have been shared on social media regarding the matter. However, the information has not been confirmed officially.

According to Tasnif News, the news of the death of 48-year-old Esma al-Assad was first announced by the Syrian opposition news site Sham Plus. However, the Tasnim correspondent in Damascus reported that this claim has not been confirmed by any official source.

Claims of Esma al-Assad's Death Spread on Social Media, But Not Confirmed

DIAGNOSED WITH LEUKEMIA

In the latest statement from the Syrian Presidency regarding Esma al-Assad, it was stated that she underwent medical examination and tests after various symptoms and clinical signs were observed, and she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.

In the same statement, it was mentioned that Esma al-Assad would be subjected to a special treatment protocol that includes isolation conditions, and therefore, she would stay away from public activities. Esma al-Assad had announced in August 2019 that she had overcome breast cancer, which was diagnosed early in 2018.
