WELL CLAIM 21 YEARS LATER: 5 DETAINED

Providing information about the file of Muharreme Oral, who had not been heard from since 2005 in the Menemen district of Izmir, Gürlek reported that a secret witness statement that she was killed by family members and the communication records of the suspects were evaluated together. Stating that an operation was carried out on October 19, 2026, following the claim that Oral was thrown into a well, Gürlek noted that 5 suspects were taken into custody. He conveyed that work continues with underground imaging and scanning devices to reach Muharreme Oral's lifeless body.

7 DETAINED IN 10-YEAR-OLD FILE IN MERSIN

Stating that the file of Furkan Coşkun, who was kidnapped in Mersin on October 9, 2016, and never heard from again, was also re-examined, Gürlek said that witness statements and communication records were evaluated. Noting that upon detection of communication links between some witnesses and suspects, proceedings were initiated against 9 suspects on October 20, 2026, Gürlek reported that 7 of the suspects were taken into custody and 2 were determined to be in a penal institution. It was stated that the investigation into clarifying Coşkun's fate continues.

BONE FRAGMENTS 4 METERS BELOW THE CONCRETE FLOOR

Stating that in the file of Mehmet Çabuk, who disappeared in Osmaniye in 2016, the investigation was deepened upon new statements, Gürlek explained that a suspect in prison confessed to killing Çabuk on January 27, 2016, and burying him in the garden of a house. Stating that during excavations carried out upon the suspect showing the location, bone fragments were reached approximately 4 meters below the concrete floor, Gürlek reported that the remains were sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute for identification and determination of the exact cause of death. He noted that within the scope of the investigation, 2 suspects were arrested and a judicial control decision was issued for 1 suspect.

WE WILL NOT LEAVE ANY UNSOLVED FILE ALONE

Emphasizing that they will continue to pursue unsolved files with determination thanks to new evidence, technical examinations, and statements emerging years later, Gürlek stated that no matter how much time passes, they will not give up tracing the truth and working for the manifestation of justice. Thanking the Menemen, Mersin, and Osmaniye Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, the relevant law enforcement units, and the public officials who contributed, Gürlek said, "We will keep the memory of justice alive and will not leave any unsolved file alone."
