COVID-19 Cases In Southeast Asia Surge Beyond 180,000

At least 4,188 new cases confirmed, 63 people died in last 24 hours.

The number of coronavirus cases in Southeast Asian countries increased to 180,786 on Thursday, including 4,945 fatalities and 99,251 recoveries.
A total of 4,188 new cases and 63 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours in member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN.
Indonesia, the worst-hit in the region, recorded highest single-day spike with 2,657 cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 70,736.
The country's death toll climbed to 3,417 with 58 more fatalities, while recoveries rose by 1,066 to reach 32,651.
The number of confirmed cases in the Philippines surged to 51,754 after the country reported 1,395 new cases in the past day.
The country's death toll remains at 1,314, while recoveries reached 12,813 with 225 additions.
Thailand reported five new COVID-19 cases, all imported, bringing the total to 3,202.
It has now been free of new local coronavirus infection for 45 days.
The tally of recoveries has reached 3,085 in the country, while the death toll stands at 58.
Singapore recorded 158 new infections, bringing the total count to 45,423.
In Malaysia, six more cases pushed the total to 8,683.
Recoveries in the country reached 8,499, while the death toll remained unchanged at 121.
Myanmar reported one more COVID-19 case, bringing the total infections to 317, with a total of six deaths and 250 recoveries so far.
Meanwhile, there have been no reports of new infections or fatalities in Brunei Darussalam, Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia. -
