COVID-19 Continues To Impact Eurasia

Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan report more coronavirus infections, fatalities.

The novel coronavirus infections and deaths continued their upward trend across Eurasia on Friday.

Ukraine registered 3,228 new virus cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the tally to 169,472, Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said.

The death toll rose to 3,468 as 68 more people died from the virus. Most recently, 1,573 people recovered from the virus, taking the total number of recoveries to 75,486.

The quarantine regime in the country was extended until Nov. 1.

Uzbekistan

In a statement, the Health Ministry in Uzbekistan said with 367 more people contracting the virus, the total count climbed to 46,994, while the total number of fatalities rose to 417 with four new deaths.

The official data showed that another 122 people recovered from the disease, bringing the count to 46,092, which approximately translates into 92% recovery rate.



A total of 3,485 people are going through medical treatment in the country.

Armenia

According to the Armenian Health Ministry, 239 more people were diagnosed with the disease, pushing the tally to 46,910.

The virus claimed one more life in the country, raising the death toll to 926. So far, 42,369 people have recovered from the virus and 3,330 people are currently being treated.

Georgia

Georgia's prime ministry said in a statement that there were a total of 3,160 cases in the country, with 182 additions over the past day.

The number of recoveries reached 1,435 as 13 more patients recovered over the past 24 hours.

Kazakhstan

The Health Ministry in Kazakhstan confirmed that the total number of cases rose to 107,134, with 107 additions over the past 24 hours.

With the recovery of 155 patients, the total number of recoveries reached 101,610. The death toll rose to 1,689 as one more person died from the disease.

Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan confirmed that 91 people were diagnosed with the virus over the past day and the registered cases totaled 45,244.

The Health Ministry said 41,415 people recovered from COVID-19 and no one died from the virus over the past day.

Over 2,000 people are receiving treatment and a total of 1,063 people have lost their lives to the coronavirus in the country.

The virus has claimed more than 946,000 lives in 188 countries and regions since it broke out in China in December. The US, India and Brazil are currently the worst-hit countries.

Over 30 million COVID-19 cases have been reported worldwide, with recoveries surpassing 20 million, according to figures compiled by the US Johns Hopkins University. -
