The DEM Party's Imrali delegation visited Selahattin Demirtas and Adnan Selcuk Mizrakli in Edirne Prison. It was stated that Demirtas and Mizrakli found the broad support given to the framework law passed by the Turkish Grand National Assembly 'extremely valuable' and expressed their belief that all parties will do their part for its implementation.
Members of the DEM Party's Imrali delegation, Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar, visited former HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş and former Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality co-mayor Adnan Selçuk Mızraklı, who are held in Edirne Prison. Following the meeting, a statement was made in which Demirtaş and Mızraklı's supportive messages regarding the framework law passed by the Turkish Grand National Assembly were shared with the public.
"THEY HAVE HIGH MORALE AND ARE CLOSELY FOLLOWING THE PROCESS"
After the critical visit, the DEM Party delegation made a statement to the public. In the statement, it was conveyed that Demirtaş and Mızraklı were given detailed information about the framework law adopted by the Turkish Grand National Assembly and the current stage of the ongoing process, and in return, their evaluations and suggestions were received. The delegation emphasized that the imprisoned politicians have high morale, send their greetings to everyone, and are closely following the process to the extent that prison conditions allow.
"THE PASSAGE OF THE LAW WITH WIDE SUPPORT FROM PARLIAMENT IS VERY VALUABLE"
In the meeting, Demirtaş and Mızraklı's clear messages regarding the new period and legal regulations were also shared. It was stated that the two politicians consider the passage of the framework law from Parliament with broad consensus and great support to be extremely valuable. Expressing their belief that all parties will fulfill their responsibilities for the practical implementation of the law, Demirtaş and Mızraklı noted that it is of great importance for everyone to contribute to the process so that it can function healthily.
CALL FOR FREEDOM FROM THE DELEGATION
In the final part of the statement, the DEM Party delegation called for the release of the imprisoned politicians. Referring to the new period that the framework law has opened the door to, the statement emphasized that Demirtaş and other politicians in prison should no longer be deprived of their freedom even for an hour.
While it was noted that this situation is a requirement of both justice and the nature of the new process, the assessment ended with the following words:
"The resolution of this unlawfulness that Demirtaş and other politicians in prison have been subjected to for years, especially in this new period that the framework law has opened the door to, will make a significant contribution to establishing the peace and democracy that we all need."
