In response to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to the general chairmanship by court decision and stated "No group meeting can be held without my instruction," Özgür Özel, declaring he would take the podium on Tuesday by saying "The authority lies with the Group Executive Board," has not backed down; meanwhile, in Ankara circles, a scenario is being discussed where, in case the parliamentary group hall is locked, MPs would hold the meeting in the TBMM garden.
After the 'absolute nullity' decision, the political maneuvers between Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to the CHP chairmanship, and Özgür Özel are intensifying. While the Özel camp gained the upper hand in the Eid greetings programs in Ankara, all eyes have turned to tomorrow's CHP Group Meeting in Parliament, which is expected to become a power struggle.
KILIÇDAROĞLU SUBMITTED A PETITION
The crisis that began when Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to the position of CHP Chairman by court decision, submitted a petition to Speaker of Parliament Numan Kurtulmuş arguing that the election at the last congress was irregular, reached its peak before the legislative year group meeting. Kılıçdaroğlu sent an official letter to deputies declaring that no group meeting could be held without his instruction and approval.
"I DETERMINE THE DATE AND PLACE OF THE MEETING"
Sending a clear message to deputies, Kılıçdaroğlu stated that the parliamentary group could not convene without his consent and included the following expressions in his letter: "The date of the TBMM CHP Group General Assembly meeting has not yet been determined by me. As soon as the meeting date, meeting agenda, and the place where the meeting will be held are determined by me, the necessary notifications will be made to you. The TBMM CHP Group General Assembly will not be held until the necessary information on these matters is provided as per my instruction."
ÖZEL AND EMIR'S RETORT
In response to Kılıçdaroğlu's move, a swift reminder of legal regulations came from the Özgür Özel and group management wing. CHP Deputy Group Chairman Murat Emir reminded that according to the bylaws, the authority to determine the place, time, and agenda of the group meeting lies not with the Chairman but with the Group Executive Board. Declaring that he would not back down, Özgür Özel responded, "We will hold a broad participation group meeting on Tuesday; we can also convene the PM (Party Assembly); 12 signatures are sufficient," signaling that he would not leave the parliamentary podium.
THE "LOCKED DOOR" SCENARIO STIRRING CORRIDORS
Now, all eyes are on the decision to be made by the Parliament Presidency regarding this dual leadership crisis and who will take the parliamentary group podium tomorrow... While Ankara's corridors are abuzz with possible chaos scenarios, the most striking claim came from Barış Terkoğlu on Sözcü TV. Terkoğlu conveyed the emergency action plan discussed in CHP corridors with these words: "It is being discussed that if the CHP Group Meeting is prevented or the group hall door is locked, deputies and party officials will not back down but will hold the meeting directly in the Parliament garden."
In this authority crisis, which will go down in political history, it will become clear tomorrow morning whether the doors of the group hall will open and whether Özel or Kılıçdaroğlu will continue their leadership actions.
