Cumulonimbus panic in Istanbul: Pilots circled in the air and couldn't land.

After the warnings from the General Directorate of Meteorology, adverse weather conditions manifested in many provinces. Heavy rain and storms also affected air traffic. Due to Cumulonimbus clouds over Istanbul, pilots were unable to land.

TRAFFIC DENSITY IN ISTANBUL EXCEEDED 80%

The Istanbul Governorship announced that strong local thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected in the city until 21:00 this evening, warning citizens to take precautions. Following the warnings, traffic density increased on some main arteries of the city after the heavy rain began.

ISTANBUL - AIRPLANES CIRCULATING IN THE AIR DUE TO CB CLOUDS

After the warnings from meteorology, the adverse weather conditions affecting Istanbul in the evening hours are also impacting flight traffic. Due to heavy rain and 'CB' clouds, which are electrically charged Cumulonimbus clouds, pilots of planes descending to Istanbul Airport had to circle in the air to avoid the clouds.

GOVERNORATE WARNED, BE CAUTIOUS UNTIL 21:00

In a statement made by the Istanbul Governorship, it was announced that according to meteorological warnings, strong local thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected until 21:00 this evening. Citizens were warned to be cautious against adverse situations such as flash floods, water inundation, lightning, and sudden strong winds.
