Naval Group stated that there was no contact with the attacker and no ransom demand was made. While the company's internal security teams confirmed that the documents belonged to them, they stated that these were not classified defense materials and that there was no direct breach of the systems. SUSPICION OF RUSSIAN HACKERS BEHIND THE ATTACK
After the incident, attention turned to the Russian hacker group NoName05716_16, which had previously carried out attacks on government institutions in Europe and the USA. The group had recently claimed to have accessed Naval Group's systems. However, authorities reported that no direct link had been established between this attack and the recent data leaks.

The French Defense Intelligence and Security Directorate (DRSD) announced that cyber attacks targeting the defense industry have significantly increased in 2024.
