According to data from the General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM), Turkey is entering a new heatwave. Scorching temperatures are expected to last for four days, with thermometers in the Aegean and Mediterranean regions reaching up to 43 degrees Celsius, while the perceived temperature is expected to hit 50 degrees Celsius. From midweek, warnings of showers and thunderstorms have been issued for many provinces in Marmara and the Western Black Sea region, including Istanbul.

A new heatwave coming from the Balkans will be effective across the country as of today. In the Aegean and Mediterranean regions, thermometers are not showing 45 degrees, but the felt temperature is expected to reach 50 degrees. Starting from Wednesday, rainfall showers will be seen in many provinces, including Istanbul.

According to the latest assessments by the Turkish State Meteorological Service: It is estimated that the northern parts of the country and the eastern part of the Mediterranean region will be partly to very cloudy, while the coastal areas of the Central and Eastern Black Sea, northeastern Eastern Anatolia, the surroundings of Bayburt and Artvin, and the northern parts of Adana and Osmaniye will experience showers and thunderstorms, and other areas will be partly cloudy and clear.

A SCORCHING AND SUFFOCATING HEAT IS COMING

According to the latest weather forecast report from the Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM), Turkey is facing a new extreme heatwave. As of today, air temperatures will increase by 1 to 3 degrees in the interior and western regions, peaking especially in the Aegean and Mediterranean regions.

Due to the desert heat that will intensify in the middle of the week, the highest values of this summer will be recorded in the Aegean and Mediterranean regions on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. In these areas, where the air temperature will rise up to 43 degrees, the felt temperature is expected to reach 50 degrees due to high humidity.

RAIN WARNING FOR ISTANBUL

While the scorching heat continues in the southern and western provinces, thunderstorms and rainfall showers will become effective starting Wednesday. Showers will begin in Istanbul, as well as in the provinces of Kırklareli, Edirne, Tekirdağ, Çanakkale, Balıkesir, Bursa, Bilecik, Sakarya, Kocaeli, Artvin, Ardahan, and Kars.

The rainy weather is expected to expand its influence on Thursday, becoming effective across Istanbul and the Western Black Sea region as well.
