In a statement from the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif came together at the Al-Safa Palace in Mecca.
It was reported that within the scope of the meeting, a "Mecca Joint Defense Summit" was held, relations between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan were reviewed, and various issues of common interest were discussed.
JOINT DEFENSE AGREEMENT SIGNED BETWEEN 3 COUNTRIES
In the official statement made after the summit, it was stated that Türkiye, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia signed a historic joint defense agreement. The statement included the following expressions: "Based on the deep-rooted historical ties between the three states, the enduring relations founded on brotherhood and Islamic solidarity, and with the aim of further advancing common strategic interests and years-long defense cooperation, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif have signed the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, reflecting their joint determination to further strengthen the common security of the three states and to promote peace, security, and stability in the region and beyond. This agreement is a step taken towards the goal of a secure and prosperous future."
"AN ATTACK ON ONE OF THE 3 COUNTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AS AN ATTACK ON ALL"
The most notable clause of the signed agreement was the principle of collective defense. Regarding the details of the clauses, the statement noted the following: "The agreement aims to strengthen joint deterrence against any act of aggression and stipulates that an armed attack against any of the 3 states will be considered an attack against all of them. Additionally, the agreement envisages the development of defense cooperation between the 3 countries in all areas."

An official statement was also made by the Presidency's Directorate of Communications regarding the critical summit and the agreement. In the statement, the full text was shared with the public as follows: "Upon the kind invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, paid a visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 24 Safar 1448, corresponding to 7 August 2026.
