Details of the third wave operation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality have started to emerge. It has been reported that Taner Çetin, the Head of the Press and Publication Department of the IMM, organized tenders for companies close to him, received financial benefits as bribes from the companies that won the tenders, and acquired various movable and immovable assets with these benefits.
According to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the corruption investigation against suspects, including Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was suspended from his position as the Mayor of Istanbul after his arrest, continues. The charges include "being a leader of a criminal organization," "being a member of a criminal organization," "bribery," "extortion," "qualified fraud," "illegally obtaining personal data," and "interfering with a tender."
NUMBER 1 OF THE OPERATION IS ACCUSED OF BRIBERY As part of the investigation, an examination was conducted regarding Taner Çetin, who has been in contact with Ekrem İmamoğlu since his time as the Mayor of Beylikdüzü, and his actions related to Media AŞ and Kültür A.Ş, which are linked to the detained suspect Murat Ongun, the Chairman of the Board of Media AŞ. It was determined that Çetin organized tenders for companies close to him, received "bribes" from the companies that won the tenders, and acquired assets with these benefits.
Taner Çetin, Head of the Press and Publication Department of İBB BRIBERY ALSO INCLUDED IN THE MASAK REPORT According to the information submitted to the investigation file by the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK), it was understood that Çetin had the payments for the mentioned purchases made directly to the companies that worked with Media AŞ and Kültür A.Ş, and that money transfers were also made to other personnel of these companies.
In the investigation, a detention order was issued for 22 suspects, including İBB personnel, company representatives, and company employees, who were identified as being involved in the processes of receiving bribes from tenders delivered to addresses in which suspect Taner Çetin was involved. While 18 people were caught, police teams continue their efforts to apprehend the other suspects.
