No matter where you appoint a trustee, it is wrong. You should stop when you are about to appoint a trustee to Ahmet Türk; Ahmet Türk is not someone to be appointed a trustee! Turn back from these mistakes. Abandon this immoral law you enacted under the state of emergency with that decree."

DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan stated in Mardin: These liars, these deniers, those who reject the peoples of Turkey think that Kurds will bow to these trustees and liars. They should know very well that whatever Sheikh Saitler, Seyit Rıza, and Denizler did, the Kurdish people and the peoples of Turkey will do the same. POLICE INTERVENED

After the speeches of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan, the police intervened with water cannons and plastic bullets against the group waiting in front of the municipality. POLICE INTERVENED TO GROUP TRYING TO ENTER MUNICIPALITY IN BATMAN

Following the Interior Ministry's removal of Batman Mayor Gülistan Sönük due to her alleged ties to terrorism, security measures were taken around the municipality building. After the decision, a group that marched without permission continued their demonstration despite police warnings. Some protestors in the group threw stones at the police, while police and gendarmerie teams intervened with tear gas and water cannons. In the ensuing scuffle, 75 protestors were detained. The detained protestors were taken to the police station, while security measures around the municipality building continued.

The Interior Ministry announced that the mayors of Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti were removed from their positions. In the statement made by the ministry, it was noted that Mardin Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Türk was sentenced to 10 years in prison for being a member of an armed terrorist organization in the Kobani case, and that the investigation regarding the charge of making propaganda for a terrorist organization was ongoing. Due to these reasons, he was temporarily removed from office by the Interior Ministry in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393. It was reported that Mardin Governor Tuncay Akkoyun was appointed as the Acting Mayor of Mardin in accordance with Articles 45 and 46 of the Municipal Law No. 5393.

In the ministry's statement, it was also mentioned that Batman Mayor Gülistan Sönük was removed from office due to a 6-year and 3-month prison sentence for being a member of an armed terrorist organization, and that investigations regarding the charge of making propaganda for a terrorist organization were ongoing. It was stated that she was temporarily removed from office in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393. Batman Governor Ekrem Canalp was appointed as the Acting Mayor of Batman in accordance with Articles 45 and 46 of the Municipal Law No. 5393.

The ministry's statement also indicated that a trustee was appointed in place of Şanlıurfa's Halfeti Mayor Mehmet Karayılan. The statement included the following: Halfeti Mayor Mehmet Karayılan was sentenced to 6 years, 3 months, and 15 days in prison for being a member of an armed terrorist organization, and due to ongoing investigations regarding the same charge, he was temporarily removed from office by the Interior Ministry in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393.

According to Articles 45 and 46 of the Municipal Law No. 5393, Halfeti District Governor Hakan Başoğlu has been appointed as the Deputy Mayor of Halfeti by the Governorship of Şanlıurfa.
