The Presidency's Directorate of Communications Anti-Disinformation Center put an end to the allegations that "the asset freeze order for 7 ISIS-linked individuals was lifted," which caused outrage on social media and in some press outlets. Stating that the posts in question contain heavy manipulation aimed at provoking the public, the DMM shared for the first time the "United Nations" and "death" details behind the decision.
The Presidency's Directorate of Communications Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM) gave a very clear response to claims in some media outlets that "the order freezing the assets of 7 ISIS members was lifted." In the official statement, it was emphasized that the allegations are completely manipulation aimed at misleading the public, while the international and legal realities behind the decision were shared.
"THE DECISION IS NOT ERDOĞAN'S BUT THE UNITED NATIONS'"
In the social media statement made by the DMM, it was stated that the decision published in the Official Gazette was not a unilateral initiative of Turkey. The statement said, "The decision published in the Official Gazette was taken based on the removal from the list decision of the relevant sanctions committee of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) dated May 21, 2026," indicating that the process is an international procedure.
ASSET FREEZE ORDER LIFTED DUE TO "DEATH" INFORMATION
The DMM also clarified the reason for the removal of the 7 individuals at the center of the claims from the list, stating that these individuals were removed from the sanctions list by the United Nations committee upon the definitive confirmation of their "death" information. It was emphasized that Turkey's step was fully within the framework of international law.
"TURKEY IMPLEMENTED ITS INTERNATIONAL OBLIGATIONS"
In the final part of the statement, it was reminded that Turkey is obliged to implement UNSC decisions without delay under current legislation and international treaties. An important call was made to the public not to trust provocative and distorted content.
