Dozens of flights were canceled or delayed on Wednesday at Germany's Munich Airport due to a strike by ground workers over an ongoing pay dispute.
The strike action started at 10 a.m. local time (0800GMT) and lasted until 3 p.m. (1300GMT), prompting the cancelation of at least 36 flights, as well as delays on a number of flights, according to a statement by the operator.
The strike affected both domestic and international flights, including scheduled flights to Palma de Mallorca, Florence, Bologna, and Zurich.
The ver.di trade union said earlier that no progress was achieved after four round of wage negotiations with the ground services company Swissport Losch, and the strike has become necessary to increase pressure on the employer.
The union, which represents around 600 workers in negotiations, is demanding an above-inflation pay rise and other improvements in working conditions. -
