The presidential elections held in the USA on November 5 resulted in the victory of the Republican Party candidate and former President Donald Trump.
The hosts of the 'AltıYedi' program broadcasted on Sondakika.com's YouTube channel, Dr. Alihan Limoncuoğlu, a faculty member at Marmara University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Fuat Tuncer from Istanbul Gelişim University, evaluated the reflections of the election, which concluded with Trump becoming the 47th President of the USA, on foreign policy.
"IT WILL BE SUFFICIENT FOR TURKEY"
Limoncuoğlu commented on the relationship between Trump and Turkey regarding Mike Waltz, whom he announced he would appoint as National Security Advisor, during a segment of the program. Limoncuoğlu stated that it would not be as bad as thought and that support for the PYD would decrease during Trump's term. Emphasizing that the first issue Turkey disagreed with the USA was support for the PYD, Limoncuoğlu said, "This will be sufficient for Turkey."
"GETTING OUR MONEY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN GETTING THE F-35s"
Limoncuoğlu argued that the sanctions imposed on Turkey under the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) would also be lifted in the new era, and regarding the F-35 fighter jets that were not delivered to Turkey, he stated, "Getting our money is more important than getting the F-35s themselves."
"THEY WILL CONTINUE TO REGRET THE THINGS THEY LOOKED AT IDEOLOGICALLY OVER TIME"
Recalling Trump's criticism of the Obama era, where he said, "You didn't give the Patriot air defense system to Turkey, and they bought Patriots from Russia," Limoncuoğlu continued his remarks as follows: "It is a bit strange that CAATSA sanctions are being applied to Turkey. The entire formation and development process of this was quite absurd. But I think Americans will continue to regret the things they looked at ideologically over time."
