Meteorology expert Adil Tek stated that warm weather will dominate Istanbul during the Eid al-Adha, saying, "The highest temperatures in Istanbul can reach up to 35 degrees. There is actually a trend of increasing temperatures throughout the holiday. On the first day of the holiday, temperatures will be around 28 to 30 degrees, while on the second day, they will rise to 32-33 degrees, and on the third day, they could reach 34-35 degrees."

With the arrival of June, there has been a noticeable increase in air temperatures. Adil Tek, an engineer at the Kandilli Observatory Meteorology Laboratory, evaluated the meteorological conditions and made statements regarding the expected weather during the holiday.

"WE WILL START TO EXPERIENCE THE FEELING OF HEAT DURING THE HOLIDAY"

Tek stated, "There will be clear and warm weather in Istanbul during the holiday. The air temperatures in Istanbul continue to rise during the holiday. Temperature values are reaching around 30 degrees. In some areas, especially in the inner regions where wind circulation is low, temperatures are expected to rise up to 35 degrees, but at the coastal areas, the highest temperatures will be around 25-26 degrees. The most problematic situation for Istanbul residents is the low nighttime temperatures and the winds blowing from the north, which have also lowered the perceived temperatures at night. While nighttime temperatures were around 14 degrees in the past weeks, they will rise to 18 degrees during the holiday. We can comfortably say that summer has arrived in Istanbul during the holiday. It seems that we will start to experience the feeling of heat during the holiday," he said.

"TEMPERATURES IN ISTANBUL WILL RISE UP TO 35 DEGREES"

Noting that temperatures are increasing, Tek said, "The highest temperatures in Istanbul are rising up to 35 degrees. These temperature values are valid for the inner regions. As mentioned, the coastal areas will be around 26 degrees. There is no rain in Istanbul, no precipitation. We will see plenty of sunshine. The coastal areas seem to be a bit more comfortable. We will feel the heat a bit more in the inner regions. In fact, we can say that we will be overwhelmed by these temperature values," he expressed.

"THERE ARE INCREASING TEMPERATURE VALUES DURING THE HOLIDAY"

Tek stated, "There are actually increasing temperature values during the holiday. Firstly, on the third day of the holiday, the temperature values rise a bit more. While the temperature values on the first day are around 28 degrees, on the second day they will be around 32-33 degrees, and on the third day, they will rise to 34-35 degrees. On the fourth day of the holiday, the temperature values will again be above 30 degrees. This is what it looks like for Istanbul," he said.

"THERE ARE FEWER 3-4 HEAT WAVES COMPARED TO SUMMER 2024"

Stating that we are experiencing hotter weather, Tek said, "We have started to experience increasingly hotter weather due to global climate change. In 2023, we saw 3-4 heat waves. In 2024, we saw about 5 heat waves. However, the 5 heat waves were long-lasting. Some lasted 10 days, some lasted a week, and some lasted 2-3 days. 2024 was already the hottest year globally. Our country was also affected by this heat globally. The highest values measured so far were recorded in our country in 2024, and we had a very hot summer. However, when we look at the summer of 2025, there are fewer 3-4 heat waves compared to the summer of 2024. Compared to 2023, it indicates that we will be exposed to a bit more heat waves. We are stating this based on the results of our climate models," he said.

"WE WILL SEE HEAT WAVES IN JULY AND AUGUST"

Adil Tek said, "We can evaluate these heat waves month by month. For example, in June, we do not expect very hot weather among the summer months. June is expected to be around the seasonal norms. Although it may occasionally exceed, it generally seems to be above the seasonal norms. However, in July and August, the anomalies, meaning deviations, in temperature increases start to rise a bit more. According to our current climate predictions, we will see heat waves more in July and August. This seems to be a bit less than in 2024 and a bit more than in 2023. Of course, while heat waves may not have a very overwhelming effect in the inner regions of the country, they will significantly raise the temperatures. However, in the coastal areas, especially in Marmara and Istanbul, as well as the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts, we will see the oppressive weather much more. We cannot say this just for this summer. In the future, we will see heat waves more frequently. In the summers of 2026, 2027, and 2028, the number of heat waves will seem to be increasing," he said.

"THE WEATHER IS HOT DURING THE HOLIDAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY"

Evaluating the holiday across the country, Tek said, "If we evaluate the holiday generally on a country basis, we can say that on the first day of the holiday, there is generally no precipitation across the country, but there is rain in the eastern Black Sea and the eastern part of Eastern Anatolia in the afternoon hours of the first day of the holiday. Again, on the second day, there is rain in the same places in the afternoon hours. On the third and fourth days, there is no precipitation at all across the country. There is completely clear and warm weather in the western regions. The temperatures are above the seasonal norm values. In the Mediterranean, temperatures are between 30-35 degrees, in the inner regions, it is again around 34 degrees, and especially in the Aegean, there are temperatures exceeding 36 degrees around Aydın. In other words, the weather is hot during the holiday across the country," he said.

"SEA WATER TEMPERATURES HAVE REACHED A LEVEL SUITABLE FOR SWIMMING"

Speaking about sea water temperatures, Tek said, "I want to mention the sea water temperatures. Especially the sea water temperatures of the Mediterranean have now risen above 20 degrees. The temperature in the Mediterranean is between 22 and 25 degrees. The temperatures in the Aegean vary between 20-22 degrees. In the Marmara, the sea water temperatures are between 18 and 20 degrees. The sea water temperatures are now suitable for swimming. In the Black Sea, however, the sea water temperature is a bit cooler, ranging between 16 and 18 degrees. For those who are going on vacation and want to cool off by going to the seaside, the Mediterranean is very suitable, the Aegean is at a swimmable level, while Marmara and the Black Sea are a bit cooler, but still swimmable.

There is no precipitation during the holiday, and the roads are in good condition. It should be noted that there may be some softening of the asphalt due to the high temperatures. Therefore, it is advisable for those who will be traveling to consider this heat and to avoid excessive speed in order to prevent their vehicle's tires from slipping.
